The Harpy's perch

So I'm back home for Christmas which means the traditional sweep of my old sketchbooks. Durring this time I generally resketch drawings I like the concept of, hate the look of, or just generally want an artistic ego boost. Usually this means sketching in the margins of the original drawing and being on my merry way.

This time I decided to pick a piece and do an entired rehash of it, the piece in question just happened to be a siren/harpy (pretty sure the original intention was siren, though now I like the idea of a harpy too) I had created in 2004. She never had a name and not much of a background story but I liked the concept so off I went.

This is the result.

I really do like how it turned out, the parrot harpy was a lot of fun, the two in the background are a hawk and a raven, though I didn't exactly base her on any specific bird I tried to keep the colours of the blue harpy to that of a blue jay. They're supposed to be shifters of a sort, explaining the disproportioate wings of the grounded harpies.

Maybe I should come up with some sort of story for this.
